What is human resource management
(HRM)
In the current global context human resource management plays
a big role on organizations. Human resource management defined by many researchers,
it is changing time to time. Development of new business and changing
technological environment may challenge for human resource management.
Definition for HRM has changed time to time in according to new findings of
technology. Human resource management is about the people in the organization
and how to use the employees in order to achieve the organizations goals and
objectives. It’s explained overall purpose of the HRM is to ensure that the
organization able to achieve success through people (Armstrong, 2009).
Definitions for HRM
HRM is concerned with how organizations manage their workforce
(Grimshaw and Rubery , 2007)
‘An approach to the development and implementation of HR
strategies that are integrated with business strategies and support their
Achievement’ (Armstrong and Taylor, 2014)
HRM cover the following activities ,human capital
management, cooperate social responsibility, organization development, resourcing
performance management, learning and development ,reward management ,employee
relations, employee well-being and health and safety and the provision of
employee services(Armstrong, 2009).
Strategic human resource management describe as developing
and applying HR strategies combined with business strategies and support to
achievement of organization goals (Armstrong and Taylor, 2014).It has pointed
out that ‘business objectives are accomplished when human resource practices,
procedures and systems are developed and implemented based on organizational
needs, that is,when a strategic perspective to human resource management is
adopted(Baird and Meshoulam ,1988)
Trends of HR management
What HR managers did things in yesterday and what is going to
do in tomorrow will change due to the new trends of HR management. Dessler (2013)
listed the trends and explained
new technology, globalization,
deregulation, changes in demographics, nature of work and economic challenges.
Dessler(2013)explained what are the things HR management want to do survive with the new trends.
Company must more competitive, faster and more responsive,
choose more cost effective ways, organized around empowered team, more fiscally
conservative.
