Health, safety and employee well being

Health and safety policies and programs about protection of employees. Safety Programs prevent accidents and minimize the damages to people and property. They relate to work systems more than working environment, but care is being taken to protect both health and safety programs from hazards and their aims and methods are clearly inter-related. Amstrong (2009) discussed about occupational health programs work to prevent illness caused by working conditions. They consist of two elements

          01) occupational medicine 02) occupational hygiene

what are the antecedents and consequences of poor health and well-being at work

According to Boorman (2009) poor health and well-being at work leads to increased absenteeism and can have adverse effects on significant individual organizational, economic and societal consequences.

The exposure to work-related hazards varies across occupations and industries (Hassan et al., 2009). Encouraging evidence indicates that there is a marked decrease in work-related injuries in industrialized countries, due to a general change in the nature of jobs. Nevertheless, policy makers and workers are increasingly concerned with improving the quality of jobs overall. (Hassan et al., 2009).

It has described in the Fujitsu(2017) official website, based on the Fujitsu Corporate Values Fujitsu Group ensures the safety of employees by providing work environments where people can work in safety and comfort. Furthermore, the Fujitsu Group has set a Health and Safety Policy based on the Fujitsu Corporate Values.

Fujitsu Group's Health and Safety Policy

‘‘Ensuring the health and safety of Fujitsu's employees is one of the most important management topics, and it is given the highest priority in all of Fujitsu's business activities’’

The Fujitsu Group aims for zero industrial accidents, and is committed to organizing occupational safety and health activities. To increase awareness in order to prevent an industrial accident, the Fujitsu Group promotes health and safety in education, and conducts security exercises to prevent fails. Fujitsu Group conducts voluntary inspections and third party inspections by specialized site surveyors to minimize accident risks at its production sites

It shows in the Coca cola safety records (2017) the company focuses heavily on minimizing workplace-related injuries and conditions. In 2016 ‘The Coca-Cola Company has seen a 21 percent reduction in serious incidents and injuries and is experiencing an all-time low in Lost Time Incident Rates (LTIR) at 1.29. Our dedication to safety excellence and continuous improvement is reflected by our year-over-year LTIR performance as well as our Total Incident Rate (TIR) of 4.04.’
